In 2001, Dr. David Kent developed the Lifestyle Lift when he saw the need for a safer, less invasive facelift procedure. After developing the new techniques, he began teaching it to other plastic surgeons, picking only the best and most highly qualified surgeons.  Legally, any doctor can perform plastic surgery, and no specialization is required to legally perform the procedures.  Dr Kent wanted his patients to have a higher standard of care, however, so he only allowed trained plastic surgeons with board certification or board eligibility to learn the new procedure.  Today the result is a national network of Lifestyle Lift centers where patients can be sure of the quality of their physician, and the safety of their procedure.

Lifestyle Lift Foundation

Many are aware of the Lifestyle Lift as a facial firming procedure, which aims to improve one’s appearance, to make it look more youthful and to help you regain your self-esteem. What is not so commonly known is that the Lifestyle Lift Foundation started by Dr. Kent deals with treating children who suffer from certain kinds of birth defects.

Treatment of Birth Defects

Dr. Kent formed the Lifestyle Lift Foundation especially to help these children and provide support to their families.

The Lifestyle Lift Foundation looks to provide assistance to children suffering from vascular birthmarks, which are birthmarks caused by blood vessels, which are improperly formed. In particular, the Foundation deals with children suffering from various forms of Hemangiomas and Malformations. While some vascular birthmarks require no treatment and eventually disappear without any associated problems, some like Hemangiomas can be very debilitating and at times even tend to threaten vital organs. In such cases, medical treatment must be considered.

Essentially Hemangiomas are benign tumors and reportedly affect nearly 12% of babies. Most of the hemangomias occur on the neck or head though they can grow anywhere on the body. Once hemangomias appear, they tend to grow for 6-8 months, sometimes up to 18 months. After that they tend to naturally regress and reduce. However, this process is slow and can take years. Sometimes, the growths can even affect the working of vital organs. For most families, their child’s appearance because of the birth defect causes great emotional and social distress.
